What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are small titanium posts that are surgically inserted below the gumline and into the jawbone to replace the missing roots of teeth. They’re able to naturally fuse with the bone through a process called osseointegration, which allows them to supply necessary stimulation and blood flow to keep the bone from eroding over time. They also anchor the restoration within your mouth to avoid the need for altering surrounding healthy teeth as well as prevent slipping or shifting.

The 4-Step Dental Implant Process

1. Consultation: Every dental implant treatment begins with a consultation. During this visit, we’ll capture necessary diagnostic images, like X-rays, and help determine whether dental implants in Jupiter are right for you. 2. 3. Healing & Osseointegration: Following your implant placement, you’ll undergo a healing period of between three and six months. During this time, osseointegration will also occur, which is when your implant will naturally fuse with your jawbone.
4. Attaching Final Restoration: After your osseointegration is complete, Dr. Rodriguez will attach small metal connector pieces to your implants, called abutments. These will secure your final restorations within your mouth.
